Some tips for getting fit this year:
I know that there’s a lot of advice out there and jumping into the world of fitness and health can be scary and overwhelming, so here are some tips from a personal trainer:
- Don’t stress about macros. Counting nutrients is an invaluable tool, but when you’re first starting out, it can be difficult. Instead focus on cutting out bad food like refined sugars and saturated fats. Don’t deprive yourself of things you want, but try to find a healthy alternative.
- Get used to the act of tracking your food. If you want, you can track calories, but just getting in the habit of writing down everything you eat can help you be more observant about what you’re putting into your body.
- Its better to set many small goals rather than one big one. If you want to lose 100lbs, try losing 10lbs first.
- Celebrate every victory. Every goal met is a milestone and a step towards a ife. Even if it’s just a minute to look into the mirror and say “I did it!”.
- Ask for help. Changing your life is hard, especially if you’re going at it alone. Surround yourself with people who will build you up and help you along the way.
- You will mess up. You will backside. Its inevitable. It doesn’t mean that you failed. Every day, every meal is a fresh start and another chance to do better. Don’t throw away a whole day for giving into one craving.
- Drink water. Its good for you. The more hydrated you are, the better your body can detox itself and break down fat.
- Lastly, rest often. Rest days are so important. Not only for your physical health (to avoid injury), but also for your mental health. Take time to spoil yourself. Tale a long hot bath. Give yourself a facial. Do anything to pamper yourself. You earned it.
